Somewhere Over the Rainbow......

Hoping for a "Pot of Gold" at the end of this beautiful rainbow!!!

Cowboy Up....

The boys and I went to Mom's and Dad's this weekend. Matthew is going to stay a few extra days on the farm!

Matthew had a great time with Uncle Allan riding Pepe! Lane unfortunately fell ill with a "headache" and missed riding this time, but he says he will "giddy up" next time for sure! Looks like Matthew is well on his way to "cowboying up".

GROSS BUT FUNNY

Today I stopped by the grocery store to grab a couple of items. I had all three kids with me. This is something I never do! Today though, it was worth a good laugh for us all. Of course I didn't have the camera.

After much threatening and careful instruction to each child about where his spot was on the buggy and how quick the trip was gonna be -- run in, get what we need, and leave. NOTHING EXTRA. The kids all agreed and into the market we went. Matthew and Lane were under the buggy and Noah was sitting like a "big boy" on top. We had finished with our list and were headed for the checkout line when all of sudden Lane came whirling out from under the buggy "AHHHHHH" he screamed -- I looked up to find him (mostly the top of his head) covered in spit up -- I turned to Noah and he had a big "sigh of relief" grin stretched across his face -- Yep, you got it, he had christened Lane with his puke! GROSS but waaaaaay funny! Needless to say we purchased a roll of paper towels and opened them before we even got to the checkout line! That's right, there is NEVER a dull moment when the boys are involved.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!

I just wanted to pop in and tell all you wonderful mamma's out there HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY! I have had a very relaxing day today. We all went to church, then drove through Mcdonald's for a quick meal, and now I am back home literally doing nothing -- quite a switch from a regular day. Chance has been working on the yard since we got in and has 2 little helpers following his every move. Noah is getting his Sunday afternoon nap. We had a very busy, but fun Saturday. It started with tee ball, the VBS Meeting, the bday party, Lane's baseball game, then Sunday School picnic, and ended at a friends house with a fun game of PING-PONG! Boy it was exhausting, but still A LOT of fun. Oh and did I mention that Lil' Jaycie Keith spent the night Friday and kids were still awake @ 11:30!!!!!! They had a BLAST!!!!! Anyway, my wonderful husband and kids are taking me to Outback for dinner tonight and then it is time to hand back in those "glass slipper's" and get ready to start my week! CINDERELLA! CINDERELLA! I wouldn't have it any other way though!

Enjoy your day gals! You all deserve it!!!

Funny

Last week Matthew had to go to the doctor for a crick in his neck -- now, when we took him he was screaming and had been since he woke up from his nap at daycare. The doctor prescribed him some pain medication -- these pictures were taken about and hour after the first dose -- I think it worked!!!

Bible Drill

We were very proud of Lane this Sunday. He and 11 of his friends stood before our church congregation and led them through God's Plan of Salvation. Lane recited Romans 10:9 "That if you confess with your mouth,"Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

It is so wonderful to see the love for God flourishing in our children.

Words To Live By....

I got these words from my aunt. I thought they were to good not to share!

Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Laugh. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Choose with no regret. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is... - Mary Anne Radmacher

HELP SAVE ETHAN POWELL

This was posted in The Shreveport Times yesterday. Even though we have never met this precious little boy or his family, they have become a special part of our thoughts and prayers on a daily basis.

Parents of a 4-month-old Shreveport leukemia patient have learned he has a rare blood trait and are using every means possible to find their son a bone marrow match — even if it means writing Oprah Winfrey. They want you to write, too.Family, friends and a Web site, http://www.ethanpowell.com/ are helping to spread the word.
"Doctors say there is only one in about 2 million people with this trait so we're trying to get that many people to get tested by May 27," said Larry Powell, grandfather of Ethan Powell who is currently in Memphis, Tenn., undergoing chemotherapy at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "If we don't find a better match Ethan's father will be matched and he only matches five of the 10 markers doctors are looking at."The prospect of getting 2 million people tested is daunting, but not if the word is spread to a national audience. That's where Oprah comes in, said the family.Ethan's parents, Becky and Ben Powell, have posted an address for Oprah's show and a pre-written letter on the Web site that the public can print and sign. The Powells have kept a diary of daily updates at the Web site since their son was diagnosed two months ago. The site has now gotten 353,211 hits. The family would also like to encourage businesses, churches and schools to set up a bone marrow testing site at their location.Anyone interested in setting up a testing site can send a request for information to marrowforethan@yahoo.com.Debbie Pickett doesn't know the family personally but when she learned of Ethan's illness she wanted to help."The story just grabbed me," said Pickett, an insurance agent for Executive Financial Group in Shreveport, who has put her letter to Oprah in the mail. "I'm asking people I work with to do the same and trying to get Airline High School (Pickett's alma mater) to get involved. It's a very touching story."Ethan's prognosis is not good, but Powell said his grandson is doing well with his treatment."If you go to the Web site there are videos of Ethan cooing, laughing and smiling. Bless his heart, he doesn't know he's sick," Powell said. "He's taking chemo everyday by mouth or an IV. But the proof in the pudding will be May 27 when his bone marrow is taken and replaced with a donor's bone marrow. Then we'll be praying his new marrow will start producing leukemia free blood."

Meet Lola McCola

This is Lola McCola, our new Ratahoula Puppy. Now I know many of you are thinking, what in the world is a Ratahoula? -- Never heard of it I am quite sure, much less ever seen one! Well, here you have it -- Lola is part Rat Terrier and part Catahoula Cur -- yes, she is a mutt to say the least. She came from the farm in Fayette, Mississippi -- of course we could not pass her up -- she was the only "ugly duckling" in a litter of 8 puppies. She is courtesy of Mimi and Pop. She is very sweet and the kids love her. She spends her days terrorizing their ankles and roaming from closet to closet and room to room dragging out one shoe and one stuffed animal @ a time. When she is not doing that, she and Noah have grown very close -- See for yourself.

When I Grow up.....

Lane drew this picture at school the other day. This is what he wants to be when he grows up!

Welcome!

I hope you all will enjoy being able to see what actually goes on on a day to day basis at the Weeks Household. My friend does this "blog thing" on a regular basis and we have all enjoyed checking her family out during the good, the bad and the ugly times. Hopefully this way we can all keep up with one another on a more personal level. Here goes!!!!

Enjoy!
